What are River Condition Assessments?

If you have a watercourse within 10m of your project red line boundary, unless exempt, you will need to factor in watercourse biodiversity net gain (BNG).
The baseline condition of your river, stream, and/or canal is calculated using a River Condition Assessment. This information is then combined with other data to provide a baseline number of Watercourse Units.
River Condition Assessments comprise both field-based and desk-based elements, where multiple positive and negative indicators of river health are evaluated.
Our team is qualified to deliver River Condition Assessments and is experienced across various watercourse types.
We can provide wider support around watercourse Biodiversity Net Gain.
Outputs can be either raw data or summarised in a River Condition Assessment Report. Outputs can also be entered into the Biodiversity Metric.
